1. Shying away from the morning sun
Sun is the richest natural source of vitamin D. It is also called the “sunshine vitamin” as your body produces it naturally on being exposed to the sun. Are you one of those lucky ones who wake up in the morning for your daily session of sun bathing?

Too bad if not. But in reality, you belong to the 90% of the Indian women who do not follow sun bathing as a routine phenomenon. Lesser the exposure to the sun, lesser is your vitamin D produced daily.

2. Saying no to Dairy Products
While vitamin D is the bone vitamin, calcium is the bone mineral. Milk is the best dietary source of calcium. Milk products like curd, paneer, tofu, cheese are also rich in it. But milk and milk products have many hitches. They are experts in triggering allergies and flatulence.

Furthermore, adulteration of milk has become a common concern these days. The population of consumers of milk and milk products are depleting almost every day. This brings down your average calcium intake.

3. Sedentary lifestyle
Your bones are overly dependent on the amount of exercise in which you indulge daily. They need adequate body movement in order to remain healthy. Basic activities like walking, weight training, jogging, climbing stairs, and dancing help muscles pull against bones. This causes your bones to remain strong.

But with a busy schedule in today’s daily life, people are almost struggling to remove time for exercise. While the others, fail to even do that. Growing inactivity is the worst enemy for healthy bones.

4. Unhealthy beverages like diet soda
Phosphorous is an important bone mineral. But if taken in excessive amounts, it could have adverse effects. Yes, it could end up damaging your bones. The two bone minerals ( calcium and phosphorous ) are balanced in a delicate proportion to one another. Even a slight imbalance could be troublesome.

Diet sodas are practically made with phosphoric acids. Also, the caffeine present in them blocks absorption of calcium into bones. So, think twice before having your next sip of lip smacking soda. It may not be so lip smacking for your health, after all.

5. Peculiar body weight
Improper body weight ( be it over or under the normal number ) could be threatening for your bone health. If you are overweight, it means that your legs are carrying body weight over its limited capability. More load could cause your bones to weaken.

On the other hand, if you are underweight, you could be suffering from low nutrition. Cutting down on food would mean cutting down on bone vitamins and minerals. This would lead to low bone density.
